Summary from Book: What’s lurking on Shadow Island?

Stuck living in rain-soaked Sueño Bay, Ollie is miserable and wants out. He plans his escape on the next bus out of town, but everything changes when he and three classmates discover something in the woods.

They find themselves tangled in a mystery involving supernatural creatures, moon crystals and one angry gym teacher. Ollie and his new friends are about to uncover the secrets of Shadow Island.

Note: This review is done from memory. I originally read this a short bit ago.

Page Pig Thoughts: This one left me feeling like I was missing part of the story. I didn’t feel like I got enough information on the main characters to get attached. The action made me look back to see if this was not the first book in the series because I just felt like I was missing something. The backstory of the action and characters is trickled in throughout the story, but I left the book feeling like I was still missing out on something. The moon creatures were super cute and discovering that the grumpy gym teacher was actually trying to save creatures not exploit them was a nice twist. I went on to read Otter Lagoon, but I still had a lot of the same feelings about missing stuff.

Page Pup was also iffy on these books.

Family Unit: Oliver aka Ollie has been bouncing around between family members since his parents died in an accident. His latest stop is with his grandfather and Ollie intends to leave on a bus first chance that he gets. Jenna is the older sister of Sleeves.
