Summary from Publisher Website: In this companion to his acclaimed and inspirational bestseller, Heroes for My Son, national bestselling novelist Brad Meltzer brings together the stories of fifty-five remarkable individuals, from intellectual explorers such as Marie Curie, Sally Ride, and Jane Goodall to cultural champions like Billie Jean King; from implacable public figures such as Rosa Parks and Winston Churchill to artistic icons such as Leonardo Da Vinci and Stevie Wonder; and beyond. Heroes for My Daughter is Meltzer’s collection of inspirational, real-life figures for his daughter, and yours, to learn how to lead a powerful, motivated, fulfilling life.

Note: This review is done from memory. I originally read this awhile ago.

Page Pig Thoughts: This is a beautiful book with so many inspirational stories. The sort of book that you might gift to a high school graduate that would be graciously received and then sit on a shelf collecting dust. But it is worth reading, so maybe read it with your daughter (or son) when she is young enough to still listen to you.

Some of the people included may not have been my choice, but when you are making a top list of anything, having a few disagreements seems natural. I appreciate the pages at the back for telling the stories of your own heroes for your daughter.

Page Pup did enjoy flipping through the pages of this one, but I am not sure that it was actually read.

Items of Interest:

  1. Each hero is listed with a one page story of a personality trait or event that makes that particular person noteworthy.
  2. Men and women are included as the heroes.
  3. The introduction is a letter from the author to his daughter. The letter likely has some parallels to things that you would also like to tell your daughter.

Other Books in Series (At Time of Posting):

  • Not a series, but there is also Heroes For My Son, which is also lovely.
