Summary from Book: Danny Dragonbreath is not the best student in school.

He can’t breathe fire on command.

But if you ever find yourself caught in the tentacles of a giant squid at the bottom of the ocean…

He is JUST the dragon to have in your corner.

Note: This review is done from memory. I originally read this awhile ago.

Page Pig Thoughts: Previously I had tried reading a Dragonbreath book, but couldn’t really get into it. Maybe that was because it wasn’t the first one in the series, maybe I was in a different mood. This time around, I quite enjoyed Dragonbreath. Unfortunately, I did not get around to writing a review, so I can’t remember too much about it. But it has Ursula Vernon’s humor teamed up with a story that includes many types of reptiles. I laughed a little and appreciated Danny’s creativity, even if it was to avoid studying. I enjoyed this one enough that I would read another at some point.

Family Unit: Danny lives with his mother and father

Items of Interest:

  1. Danny has an active imagination.
  2. Wendell is Danny’s best friend. Wendell is logical and book smart.
  3. Danny has no interest in actually reading or learning anything to complete his science paper. He gets an F. His teacher has him redo his paper.
  4. Killer potato salad is served to Danny on his cafeteria tray. The potato salad wouldn’t give his fork back. Danny was not upset that Big Eddy the bully came demanding his lunch. Yes, the potato salad bit Big Eddy and/or stabbed him with the fork.
  5. Instead of reading, Danny has his cousin Edward the sea serpent take him and Wendell on a deep sea diving trip.
  6. Danny’s mother is not a morning person and does not really function at all until later in the day.
  7. Danny cannot breathe fire yet, but as a dragon, he is trying to learn how.
