Summary from Book: Ready for some real adventure?
Omar wants to win – he’s determined to be the fastest and the best at everything. Even if that means upsetting people slower than him. Then a strange compass gets him lost in a thick tropical rain forest, face-to-face with deadly spiders, poisonous snakes — and Bear Grylls. Together, they must find a way through the dangerous undergrowth and cross croc-infested waters…
Can Omar slow down, take it steady and learn the jungle law?
Note: This review is done from memory. I originally read this a short bit ago.
Page Pig Thoughts: Omar’s desire to win at a race makes him a bit of a poor sport. He is passed a magic compass and winds up on a jungle adventure with Bear Grylls and learns that speeding through things will not put him on the path to success, but could leave him with a snake bite.
Bear Grylls may not wield a keyboard quite as expertly as a machete in a jungle [enter mental image of him attempting to hack through a jungle waving around a keyboard], but we found this story enjoyable. Meaning that the writing style may not be award winning, but the actual story is fun and a unique adventure style. Useful adventure tips are sprinkled throughout the story along with a useful life message of taking enough time to see what your surroundings in the jungle or the suburbs might have in store for you. Page Pup gives this one a thumbs up and read the others available at the library. Maybe I will get around to reading others at some point, but for now, I am happy that I read this one.
