Summary from Book: Humans are not the only animals that look ridiculous when they’re caught doing something unexpected. Just like us, animals have their own funny ways and quirky behaviors. Animal Antics takes a look at the things animals do and explains why they do it.

Marvel at the daringness of baby opossums dangling from branches and discover what polar bears dry off with after a swim. See what a well-dressed orangutan wears in the rain, and pose for a picture with a silly macaque. And exactly why do blue-footed boobies waggle their feet?

The answers are all here, in the funniest book on animal behavior, ever.

Note: This review is done from memory. I originally read this awhile ago.

Page Pig Thoughts: We had plenty of giggles as we flipped through the pages of this one. While we enjoyed reading the fun facts about the different animals, we mostly enjoyed the silly animal photos. Since there are plenty of pages, this would be a good book to help turn around a bad day. This one definitely gets a Page Pup thumbs up.

Family Unit: Some captions describe family/social situations for various animals.

Conflict/Social Issues:

  1. Things not shown in the photos may have caused an animal to be upset or showing a territorial defense behavior. The photo pose looks more silly than scary though.
  2. Maybe something made an animal lose their grip or slip.

Positive Items:

  1. Plenty of animals just hanging out doing whatever comes naturally.
  2. The captions help understand the actual animal behavior being shown in the photo. Sometimes things that look silly to us are purposeful to an animal.

Items of Interest:

  1. Mammals dominate the pages of this book, but there are some insects, reptiles, birds, and amphibians.
  2. Potty humor – A tree shrew uses a pitcher plant as a toilet.
