I am just a curious mom that started picking books off the shelf in the library children’s section. The content in some of the middle grade books was much heavier than I anticipated, but I was more surprised by the publisher’s recommended age range on some of the books. I realized that staying aware of everything your child is exposed to is tricky, so I created Page Pig.
I was also a lost mom when I was told my child was ready for chapter books, I had no idea where to start. I picked books that I read when I was younger, I attempted looking at online book lists, and I asked other parents. I struggled to find fun books. My favorite librarian is still super helpful, but she is not always there. Maybe Page Pig can help you find new book ideas for your kid.
I am also always searching for good questions to ask my kid about books that are read, something that sparks more of a response than “I don’t know” or “It was okay.” Maybe Page Pig can help you have an intelligent conversation with your kid about a book topic.
I do not have any sort of literary degree, and I have my preferences on what types of books that I read. I was sad as a child when the books that I was reading no longer had pictures. While I still enjoy books with pictures, I do read some books without them.
Page Pup is just a kid that reads books.
