Summary from Book: Rot is ready for another adventure, and this time he’s going spud-lunking!
But while Rot is excited to dig through the muck for treasure, all his friends seem to be more interested in their own plans.
When Rot uncovers a shiny old crown, he’s sure it’ll change their minds. And it does in a most unexpected way. When Rot wears the crown, he feels powerful…. He feels invincible…. He feels like…the King of the World! And everyone has to do what the king says.
Rot is much happier now that everyone’s joined in on his plans, but when he realizes he’s the only one having fun in his kingdom, he suddenly wonders whether he might have let the crown go to his head….

Note: This review is done from memory. I originally read this awhile ago.
Page Pig Thoughts: Based on the goofy looking characters, I was surprised at how sweet of a message that this one had. The main character discovers that when he is bossing everyone around, the only one having fun is him. He is more happy when his friends are more happy. I loved the puns and the silliness in this one. However, normally I enjoy the simple and cute illustrations of Ben Clanton, but for whatever reason, I do not really enjoy looking at the taters. They look like mutant potato characters, but they just aren’t my thing. That being said, I can see plenty of kids loving them.
Page Pup gave this one thumb up despite not really liking the illustrations.
