Summary from Book: With the school year beginning at Mouseford Academy, the Thea sisters are looking forward to both the school dance and the arrival of whales at the island, but when a whale arrives early and attacks the boats, the girls investigate.

Page Pig Thoughts: After a comment by Page Pup, I skimmed through this one quickly before it went back to the library. This one does not stay true to the novels. The names of some characters change, but more importantly, some personality traits and interaction styles change as well. In the description of characters summaries at the beginning of the book, Paulina (or maybe Violet, it’s been awhile) is described as being prone to errors. None of the other Thea Sisters had a mention of a fault like that though.
The Thea Sisters seem a little more petty in this one. Pam seemed to grumble about the other Thea Sisters at one point, but it seemed more petty than the interactions that I remember in the novels.
Sardinia and Leo (I think those are the right names, again, it’s been awhile) have an interesting relationship as well. After the guy says that she shouldn’t have come because it wasn’t safe. She says something to the effect of, “you know that I go a little crazy because I love you so much.” I don’t remember seeing that sort of behavior in the novels.
All that being said, the adventure and mystery are Thea Sisters style. They are just slimmed down to fit the graphic novel format.
Despite loving the Thea Sisters novels, Page Pup did not like this one and has no interest in reading any more of the Thea Stilton Graphic Novels.
